Welcome to the web archive of UK ’70’s new wave band Gobblinz

Formed in 1975 in Peterborough UK Gobblinz were (L to R above) Steve Dunmore (Drums),Ian Graham (Guitar, lead Vocals), Dave Colton (bass, lead vocals) and Chris Allen (keyboards, vocals). All had spent several years playing clubs and pubs in a previous band but with Ians songwriting they decided to change direction and went into Beck Studios Wellingborough in 1976 to recorded a demo. The band soon got signed by Pinnacle and their first release ‘London’ sold well. However after a split with their management, the Bandrecorded the ‘Communique’ EP on their own Bacon Records label. As only 125 copies were ever shipped to record stores the single is now one of the most sought after 7″ new wave releases. Ian left the band in late 1978 to form The Name who became well known on the UK Mod scene, Dave joining a few months later. Chris carried on playing with ex ‘The Now’ bass player Faz Farrow in The Racketts and also became a heart throb as a model. The four were reunited in 1997 at the Peterborough Beer festival which was recorded for a live album released via the bands area on Soundclick.
